TLX’s engineering team has redesigned and expanded our flex line. The flex line is a production line that, instead of being dedicated to producing just one product, can be set up to produce a number of different products on the same assembly line, depending on the needs of the production schedule. Our previous flex line had different pieces of equipment at each workstation, but those workstations were stationary. This limited the number of products that we could use the flex line to assemble at any given time. This configuration worked well for quite a long time, but as we have grown our production needs and our commitment to providing quality products just in time to our customers demanded that we come up with something better.
Our engineering team designed a new flex line with greater production capacity. They devised a system where each piece of equipment is set up on its own numbered rolling cart. These carts can be rearranged in any combination needed and locked together on the line to produce a much wider variety of components than was possible on our previous line. With our new, expanded super flex line, we can now have multiple production lines set up and running simultaneously.
